The Department of Hearts and Flowers is a place to keep all things beautiful, delicious, and special.
It's a one-woman bakery started by Alicia Alvarado who has always loved creating homemade confections for friends, family, and even the occasional stranger. She worked in commercial kitchens around Houston for years, plating desserts for groups ranging from one to over 2000. She's been a part of some truly amazing teams and has learned a lot from several creative & inspiring chefs. Now she's trying to inspire and delight others, one sweet at a time. She would love to make your next special occasion cake; birthdays, baby showers, bachelor/ bachelorette parties, weddings, or the most special: just because. Her idea of a perfect day is icing cakes with the most perfect Italian meringue buttercream and decorating those cakes with beautiful little handcrafted details, all while listening to Belle & Sebastian albums back to back.
